‘It was totally worth the wait.’ Some customers lined up 24 hours to be first to buy legal pot in Toronto

The lineup went around the corner Monday morning on Queen St. W. at the Hunny Pot Cannabis Co., as the first legal bricks-and-mortar pot retailer opened in Toronto at 9 a.m.

Among the first in line was prominent Toronto social justice lawyer Caryma Sa’d, who has found herself representing more than a few cannabis users on drug possession charges in her career.

“It was totally worth the wait,” said Sa’d, who had been camping since 9 a.m. Sunday morning outside the store and was the fourth person to buy legal pot.

She ended up spending about $30, buying a gram of Sativa tangerine dream and Sativa pre-rolled joints.

“We get to be a part of history, it is a pretty cool thing to be part of the end of Prohibition. And so here we are in front of the first legal storefront,” Sa’d said in an earlier interview, standing beside a lime green tent that she and her friend Marie Kamora, a fitness trainer had set up in front of the store.
