For those with high expectations, options abound — from bonfires to a sophisticated spa experience and weekend retreats. Here is a list of pot-friendly spots that are worth taking a road trip.

Exodia Estate, Niagara Region

Located two hours away from Toronto, Exodia is a luxurious estate surrounded by three acres of English gardens at Port Dover, Norfolk County. At a steep average of $2,000 to $3,000 per night, Exodia is a heritage mansion and an ideal spot for hosting a large group of friends or corporate retreats.

Parks Creek Retreat, north of Belleville

The four-season retreat and wellness studio is located on 18 acres of forest and is just two hours away from Toronto. At an average of $1,000 to $1,500 per night, guests can even opt for “crated experiences”, where they can choose from a wide range of activities — from yoga to spa services, hiking tours and kayaking.

Featuring six lakefront cabins and non-service tenting sites, Birchwood Camp is located three hours north of Toronto. At $125 per night, guests can enjoy bonfires by the lake, fishing and swimming or boating on Lake Cecebe near Algonquin Park.

Located approximately three-hour drive from Toronto, the 25-room luxury resort allows people to smoke cannabis on room balconies. From cozy rooms to two-storey lakeside suites and a private cottage, the price per room varies.

Pink Elephant, Hamilton

The cannabis-friendly condo is located in a boutique hotel in Hamilton, Ont. Guests are not only allowed to smoke cannabis, but are encouraged to do so. Costing $149 nightly, the location is stocked with “all your smoking essentials” and, as reviewed by 13 recent guests, “sparkling clean.”

Brick and Beam loft, downtown Toronto

The loft, located in old downtown Toronto, can host up to four overnight guests or double as an event space accommodating six to 40 people. At $400 per night, the space is cannabis-friendly, but cigarette smoking is strictly prohibited, with guests risking getting kicked out without any refund.

The apartment, located in Little Italy, is a 15-minute walk from Toronto’s Kensington Market and Chinatown. But one of the biggest draws of this $200 per night rental is the complimentary gram of cannabis that guests will receive on arrival. Enjoy Fore 20 at the 4/20-friendly golf course this long weekend. Rolling Greens is a 45 minute away drive from Ottawa and allows enthusiasts to bring-your-own cannabis. The location currently does not have any accommodations, but local accommodations are plenty. “Here are our recommendations in the area: Best Western Smiths Falls, Baldachin Inn, Best Western Plus Perth, and Perth Manor Boutique Hotel. There are also many Airbnbs in the area from Cottages to Castles!” notes the official site.
